Columni

Zine

Columni zines stacked

This zine was a collaboration made in Publication Design, where everyone interviewed a Columbia College Chicago graduate and designed their own covers, opening and closing pages, table of contents, interview spreads, and more.

The table of contents spread

With the freedom to design our zines however we pleased, I decided to stick to the Columbia College branding by using two of the style colors: #048194 and #2AD2C9. To personalize it even more, I highlighted some iconic buildings I see every day on my commute, and illustrated them for my front and back covers. These include the Willis Tower, Hilton Chicago, and the Columbia Student Center.

The first interview spread

I interviewed Columbia alum Julia Arredondo for my zine. After preparing 12 questions for them, we met over Zoom and chatted over their answers. I then transcribed their answers and went on to design the spreads around the text and around Julia's artwork they provided.

The second interview spread

Along with interviewing Julia and designing my zine, I also acted as Assistant Editor for everyone's interview spreads and biographies. I fixed punctuation, grammatical, and design-related errors (such as widows, orphans, double-spaces, and more).
